Address: Mineral Wells Picnic Area, Griffith Park, CA
High atop Griffith Park, overlooking Glendale, Burbank, and beyond, a secret hillside garden gives refuge to those seeking supplemental spiritual support. In other words – if you’re looking to “get away from it all,” and enjoy the sounds of bird chirps & wind flow with spectacular views, this is the perfect spot for you.
Park at the Mineral Wells Picnic Area (GPS apps will recognize it by name) and look for the yellow security gate pictured below. Walk up the fire road to the right of the trailhead map; it’s a little steep at first. 15 minutes later you’ll arrive at the garden.
Once there, find one of the nine different access trails to explore the hand-planted vegetation. Either ramble around aimlessly and smell the roses, or enjoy a snack or book on one of the hillside’s hidden benches or picnic tables.
Amir’s garden was created in 1970 by local resident Amir Dialameh. “For thirty-two years, Dialameh worked in the garden most days of the week, hiking up a service road to the rugged Mineral Wells location. Over the years, he planted pine and jacaranda trees along with rose bushes, geraniums, oleander, and yucca that grew into the beautiful oasis it is today.” (Amir’s Garden Website)
