Address: Spring Canyon, Griffith Park, CA
Ever been to the abandoned, old zoo in Griffith Park? It’s just around the corner from the current LA Zoo, slightly hidden, and in the early 1900’s housed a handful of exotic animals who growled at guests from cave-like enclosures and iron-bar cages.
GPS “Spring Canyon”. That’s the name of the parking lot opposite the paved path that leads you up to the exhibits. Atop the walkway you’ll see a large grassy area, picnic tables, and multiple vacant enclosures open to explore.
Make sure you also check out the row of relic cages further up the trail, and hiking path behind the enclosures for a different, perched perspective.
